$20 Character Commissions; Possible Convention?
Filed under: Uncategorized — silkspinner @ 4:35 amI’m now taking commissions for two-hour bust sketches of characters like the one below: $20
It seems like something that can help out those of you who have characters or character ideas you’d like to see fleshed out, but don’t really have the money for a big commission. I take only Paypal for peace of mind, sorry!E-mail me at silkspinner@complexactions.com if interested.
Current List:
- Schedule open!I’m taking commissions for more elaborate pieces like my Slaver picture as well. These are priced based on the sketch we agree on for your piece, from which I’ll estimate painting time and set the price at $10/estimated hour. (My hour estimations almost always favor the client, with me taking longer than intended and not charging for it. Damn it.)
Any money made, for what it’s worth, will be going right back into art. For one, Tal and I are seriously considering attending Comicpalooza in Houston from March 26-28. It’s a very exciting prospect and we think we’re about ready for a local con like this. However, it is very, very expensive to build our inventory and rent the table. We’ll see what we can scrape together.
Secondly, after three years of hard use, my tablet is beginning to show a few signs of instability. It’s not my time to spring for a Cintiq yet (someday…oh, someday), but I do want to have the cash set aside to immediately replace my Intuos.
And finally, we’re looking for Comicpalooza Award Nominations! We’re only aware of these awards due to a few nominations from our lovely readers in the “Best New Webcomic” category. Now, I am in no way claiming to be better than many of the hyper-talented comic artists continually boggling my mind with their mad skills, but I do know that any sort of recognition like this is very helpful to making this a sustainable method of making a living.
So please, if anyone thinks that Complex Actions is worthy of your support, please take a couple of minutes to nominate us in this category. We need (I think) ten more nods to make it to the voting stage. Thanks for the consideration!
The truth is, we are on the cusp of taking that leap into the big leagues… or as about as big as we can, given our length of tenure. We are leaning hard in the direction of getting a Dealer’s Booth at Comicpalooza, and looking for more nominations this week (and more votes after that) will lend a lot to our decision. All of you have been so supportive, and I feel bad asking for anything more from such great readers, but the commissions and donations and swag purchases are what will get us to the Convention Circuit, the mark of any great webcomic.
Also, for anyone who ordered a S.A.S.A.V. T-shirt, they are now in stock, so no more backorder. Sorry for the delay, and all orders are shipping today. For those who have ordered a CA Angels shirt, I promise those shall be in stock before Friday, the 12th, and will be shipping out that weekend. Again, sorry for the delays.
We would love to see anyone who can make it to Comicpalooza, and will update with our booth number information as well as what we have planned for the weekend. So, keep your March-end plans open, and let’s make 2010 the year of Complex Actions!
Ignore the Cheese in that sentence. It has been a strange weekend.
